Modern Pain Science — Implications for Workers' Compensation
Healthcare providers, patients, and workers’ compensation stakeholders deal with the symptom of pain on a daily basis. It is often a symptom that persists beyond tissue healing, and often impacts an injured worker’s ability to return to work. The challenge with pain lies in its subjectivity. The same injury between two different workers doesn’t result in a homogenous pain response. This often creates frustrations from the injured worker and stakeholders. Questions arise: Why is pain so complex? What factors facilitate a timely resolution of pain symptoms? What factors perpetuate pain? We will answer these questions and more in our free, 1-hour CEU event hosted by Director of Workers' Compensation Quality and Education Chris Scoma, PT, DPT, COMT, OCS, CEAS, CDNT and Vice President of Employer Solutions Brian Murphy, PT, DPT, OCS, MTC. This conversation will discuss exactly how 21st century research is reshaping our understanding of pain, and how we can utilize current best evidence to drive better functional outcomes for patients within the workers' compensation system.
Results Physiotherapy, BenchMark Physical Therapy, and the Upstream Rehabilitation family will be hosting the free CEU webinar on May 18th at 12:00 PM CST for Case Managers.
